Accessibility

We’re pleased to offer an accessible audio described performance as part of this year’s festival.

The Haka Party Incident
5.30-6.00pm Touch Tour

Audio Described performances provide a live audio commentary by passionate professionals from Audio Described Aotearoa Ltd as they describe the actions onstage. This commentary is relayed to blind and low-vision patrons via an earpiece which can be booked in advanced. Touch Tours are held one and a half hours before the show. Patrons can walk through the set, touch props, feel costumes and familiarise themselves with visual and sensory materials in the performance.

Parking

Parking TSB Showplace

Parking can get very busy particularly in the evenings and weekends. The nearest car park is Central Car Park (between Devon Street and Powderham Street, opposite the venue). There's one mobility park in the Central Car Park. There is also a drop off/collection park outside the front of the venue. More information on car parking in the local area, can be found on the NPDC website.

For assistance with booking taxis, please speak to one of the TSB Showplace team.

The Downtown Carpark (Powderham Street) is also an option and open 24 hours a day for ticketed parking.

Accessibility

The TSB Showplace

The Theatre Royal and the stalls level of the TSB Theatre are fully accessible for guests in wheelchairs (four wheelchair and six carer seats in the TSB Theatre and four wheelchair and four carer seats in the Theatre Royal). There is also a lift that provides access to all levels for those with limited mobility. There are wheelchair accessible ramps and bathrooms in both venues. Please ensure you speak to our box office staff or Ticketek if you wish to book a wheelchair seat. If you have any special requirements, please mention this to a staff member when booking your tickets.

Due to steep and narrow seating and stairways, we do not recommend the Gallery for patrons with limited mobility.

If you have a walking aid please be aware that due to fire regulations these will be kept outside of the theatre during the performance and returned at the end. In the unlikely event of an evacuation, please remain in your seat until all patrons have exited the theatre. We have one wheelchair in the venue which is available to borrow. If you wish to use this, please advise the team when booking your tickets so we can ensure it is available for your use.

Hearing and guide dogs are welcome. Please let the TSB Showplace team know when booking so they can offer appropriate seating.

A P2 drop-off and pick-up area is directly in front of the venue.

The TSB Showplace endeavour to be as accessible as possible for everyone. If you need support with access, audio and visual needs, or reserving an easy access seat in the theatre, please contact the TSB Showplace prior to your visit by calling on 06 759 0021 or by visiting in person at the TSB Showplace box office.
